Another year just sped by. 2013. A weird number, I never liked it. Somehow 2014 looks more pleasing and I am happy about that. But 2013 was a wonderful year nonetheless. I crossed a major milestone and began many things new.

How much really changes between a 31st and 1st? Nothing much. Yet this event has been hyped to give a sense of hope. A feeling that there is something new to look forward to and this great idea that the sunrise on 1st Jan each year, might holds something miraculously beautiful for each one of us. The eve of 31st is always the light at the end of the tunnel, the silver lining to an old year gone by. Every New Year’s day I feel the Sun is brighter somehow. Is it just in my head?

Time for resolutions and partying and trips and gastronomic delights. Once the sun is up, we all go back to the same old doldrums that monotony holds. Yet monotony is what makes us disciplined, following a routine. Life is full of contradictions. Too much of anything is a bad idea. The key is in moderation. The key is in balance. The key is in living and enjoying every single moment instead of hoping against hope for something that cannot be yours. All this is easier said than done. But that is what a new year holds. Hope.

Hope for something new and fresh. Hope for magic and miracles. Hope that tomorrow will be better than today.

I want to end this year by being thankful for all that I have in my life, for all the people that are mine. I want to begin 2014 with a smile and a big grand breakfast.

Happy New Year!
